Maria Gutiérrez

Current Responsibilities: Maria is an experienced educator and higher education professional. Driven by a passion for community building, cross-cultural communication, and DEIB principles, she takes pride in working on community initiatives geared towards positive cultural change.
As the Sustainability Engagement Manager, Maria is responsible for leading efforts to increase visibility across the student population and advancing Yale’s sustainability goals. She collaborates with students and staff across Yale’s residential colleges and professional schools and contributes to the planning and management of events such as Celebrate Sustainability and Earth Day.

Previous Positions: Program Manager (Yale Title IX Office) and Assistant Director of Programs and Communications (Office of International Students and Scholars at Yale).

Academic/Professional Credentials and Appointments: Ph.D. in Egyptology, Yale University. M.A. in Egyptian Art and Archeology, University of California, Berkeley. B.A. Art History, Penn State University.

Fun Facts: Outside of work, Maria enjoys running, building an indoor garden/jungle, reading, traveling abroad, and spending time with her husband and dog. She lives in New Haven.
