Yale Sustainability Presents: Earth Week at Home

Earth Week at Home logo with dates April 19 - 25
April 16, 2020
In honor of the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, Yale Sustainability has created a portal that features daily quizzes and pledges, learning opportunities, climate stories, and a brand new content type: Yale Experts Explain.

It was anticipated that Earth Week 2020 would be a time of festivals, awards, and activist gatherings around the United States. This is hardly a time for celebration, however, and most of us find ourselves indoors and isolated because of the COVID-19 crisis .

Yale Sustainability is offering you and your loved ones a brief respite from these challenging times, and an opportunity to honor the Earth from April 19th to 25th at home. Here’s a sneak peek of what you’ll find:

Daily Pledges: Actions you can take to focus on your own well-being and the well-being of the Earth.

Daily Learning: Free, online learning opportunities to expand your knowledge of our environment and how to live a more sustainable life.

Daily Quiz: Daily quiz questions surrounding the topic of sustainability. See if you can go 7 for 7!

News Items: News items from Yale and beyond, focused on sustainability and the efforts we’re taking to support one another and the Earth

Climate Story Map: Visualized stories from around the world about how climate change has affected the places that matter most to the Yale community and what we as climate leaders are doing to respond. Explore our interactive map and contribute your own story.

50 Years of Sustainability at Yale Timeline: A history of sustainability at Yale, starting with the first Earth Day celebration at Yale in 1970.

Finally, we are excited to announce the launch of our newest initiative: Yale Experts Explain. Yale faculty and staff experts are bringing their knowledge to you with quick, informative articles on topics related to sustainability. On April 19th, learn from Yale experts about carbon neutrality, plant-forward diets, and recycling.

Visit https://earthweek.yale.edu between April 19th and 25th and help us honor the Earth separately, together.
