Recycling is one of the best ways to reduce waste and lessen the environmental impacts that come from extracting new materials. However, when recycling bins are contaminated—with liquids, plastic bags, or greasy pizza boxes, for instance—whole batches of otherwise recyclable material can become so soiled they must be thrown away.

As Yale introduces new recycling and food waste signs campus-wide, a new video series looks at some of the most common mistakes in campus recycling and how the Yale community can recycle right.
