Upcoming Citizen Science Opportunities

February 13, 2012

This Valentine’s Day, take a break from your chocolates and heart-shaped boxes to join us for our second bird walk of the winter! Our first walk on a drizzly day in mid-January turned up 17 different species, and we can’t wait to see what else may have appeared on campus since then.

This is the second in a series of monthly bird walks around the Yale campus. All skill levels are welcome. Come if you already enjoy bird watching or if you are just curious about the flora and fauna sharing this campus with us. Participants will join experts from the Peabody Museum for a brief training on birding followed by an observational walk leaving from the Museum.

Tuesday, February 14 (snow date February 15), 12 noon -1 p.m.

• Meet in the lobby of the Yale Peabody Museum (170 Whitney Avenue)
• Bring binoculars (RSVP to borrow a pair), a notebook and walking shoes

This marks the beginning of a larger initiative to train members of the Yale community as Citizen Scientists. Please visit http://sustainability.yale.edu/citizen-science to learn more and to see the dates for the upcoming training sessions at the Peabody Museum and monthly bird walk dates, times and meeting locations.

Please RSVP by Noon on Monday, February 13 and/or direct questions to sustainability@yale.edu.
