EVENT: Tree Planting Community Day of Service

April 23, 2010

Members of the Yale Community are invited to help foster community and green New Haven by planting trees.

As part of a Day of Service associated with the Yale Climate and Energy Institute’s First Annual Conference on “Clean Energy Innovation: Overcoming Barriers to a New Energy System,” and in collaboration with the Yale Community Carbon Fund, we have arranged with the United Illuminating Company to conduct free energy audits of several churches along Dixwell Avenue to help those churches reduce their energy usage, emit less carbon, and save money.

While UI conducts the audits inside, Day of Service volunteers will be working with Yale’s Urban Resources Initiative to plant trees outside those same churches as a visible display of Yale’s commitment to greening our city and to further reducing our community’s carbon footprint.

Please eamil  aileen.nowlan@yale.edu to sign up.  Volunteers are invited to convene at 10:30 in front of Steinbach Hall, 52 Hillhouse, to for shuttle service to the churches.
