Strategic Partnerships
Partnerships are a critical component of how the Yale Office of Sustainability functions. The integration of sustainability requires collective and interactive activities and the leveraging of best practices and resources from like-organizations. The Office currently maintains relationships internally, locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally.
Internal
Within the University, the Office frequently serves as a network agent and a resource - connecting units within campus to effect change and offering guidelines and research when requested. The Office also convenes working groups and committees with vested partner across the university as a means of developing comprehensive topic-specific strategies. In addition, the Office actively collaborates with groups throughout campus on specific research and projects.
Local
Yale is a strong presence in the City of New Haven: Much of the Yale campus and infrastructure are interwoven into the downtown area, and about half of the residents of New Haven are affiliated with Yale in some way. The Yale Office of Sustainability collaborates closely with the New Haven Director of Sustainability and has developed key initiatives to enhance the city’s sustainability.
External
Yale maintains alliances with other high education institutions locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. By maintaining on-going communications about our objectives and methods, we both learn from our peers and motivate other institutions and communities to set similarly ambitious goals.
