Projects

Some of the Yale Office of Sustainability’s most exciting work is the development of innovative solutions to advance sustainability within the University and local communities. The Office runs several major projects that target different populations and goals, but all seek to make sustainability more deeply embedded in the lives of individuals and the functioning of institutions. These projects are typically multi-dimensional, addressing multiple of Yale’s Sustainability Goals, and engaging the creative energy of people across a variety of backgrounds and disciplines.

Our ongoing projects include the Yale Community Carbon Fund, which implements carbon offsetting programs in the local New Haven community by working with low-income families to install energy-saving equipment in their homes; a Sustainable Microloans project for which any student, staff, or faculty may apply; the Bulldog Sustainability athletics program, which seeks to reduce waste and resource use in partnership with the Yale Athletics office and Yale varsity teams; and close collaboration with the Professional Schools to develop and implement individualized Climate Action Plans.
