Yale Announces Stormwater Management Plan

October 4, 2013

A Sustainable Stormwater Management Plan for Yale has just been released, as called for in the Yale Sustainability Strategic Plan 2010-2013. This plan examines the impact of stormwater runoff on the Yale campus and New Haven and the importance of mitigation. It outlines strategies for better understanding stormwater on campus, investigating green infrastructure potential, integrating stormwater management into the University’s design and planning standards, and adapting the management plan as more information becomes available.

The plan was developed by Sustainable Initiatives and Facilities Utilities & Engineering with Forestry & Environmental Studies students in support of the University’s desire to further its role in sustainability efforts beyond compliance and into proactive and responsible environmental management.  A Water Management Plan has also been developed.
