Richard LevinYale Releases Ambitious Sustainability Strategy

Yale has been prominent in declaring that environmental citizenship must extend beyond the university’s academic enterprise. Consistent with the need to exhibit leadership in this critical future direction, Yale President Richard C. Levin announces the recommendations of the Yale University Sustainability Task Force. In its report, Sustainability Strategic Plan 2010-2013, the University establishes a comprehensive set of sustainability goals that are both visionary yet achievable over the next three years.

Climate Change Action at Yale

Mitigating global climate change is recognized as one of the most pressing issues facing society today. Acknowledging its unique position to play a leadership role in addressing this global challenge, in 2005, President Richard C. Levin commited Yale University to a greenhouse gas reduction target of 43% below 2005 levels by 2020.

Yale has established a fifteen year action plan to take responsibility for its emissions. Yale's annual executive summary illustrates progress to date and outlines the University’s strategy for reducing campus emissions.
